Back from Macau! (Part I)

I'm finally back from Macau, and boy am I happy to be home. Though it had been enjoyable the past 4 days, nothing beats home!

Anyway, I am quite amazed that we can actually spend 4 days in Macau, and that I have not stepped into even one casino. It was difficult to stick to the itinerary my aunt came up with, cause of the old and young we had with us (2 grandmas and 2 kids), nonetheless I enjoyed the sightseeing part of this holiday.

Digress abit, I'm updating my lousy iPhone 3G to iOS4, and it's taking forever to back up! Keeping my fingers crossed that by the time I'm done with this post, the backing-up will be done... I hope they are only kidding when they said that it might take hours!

We took Jetstar, and arrived in Macau at 2am... Was crazy tired by the time we reached.

My uncle's friend met us at the airport, cause my uncle was worried that the taxi drivers might not understand mandarin, and my cantonese is like crap. We took 2 cabs and headed to Hotel Royal, a 4 star hotel among residential area... (Sneaked back one of the room cardkey, cause they gave us an extra, for what I also don't know LOL)

The building looks like crap, it's the building with scaffolding

And it has crappy view...

BUT the rooms were great, cause they renovated not too long ago...And of course they took this photo of a room with a nice view...

Grace decided to take photo around our room (mostly bathroom, cause she likes the bathtub):

21st June 2010

We walked around the area, looking for a place for breakfast, walked around quite abit actually, cause for some reason, most of the shops were closed on a Monday morning. Finally found a place to eat, and when we were done, took the public bus to the customs, cause we were heading to Zhu Hai.

The only mode of public transport they have there are buses (including Bus 11-walking) and cabs.

When we were waiting for our turn at the customs, we heard this custom officer shouting at this Indian family, I couldn't quite catch his English, all I heard was "Show me the money" (Reminded me of 'Wheel of Fortune').

Walked around the humongous Immigration Underground Centre

It has 2 large levels, with alot of the shops selling all the same things, and as usual, they are all fake stuff, like fake crocs, designer bags, etc... Walking around the mall was a torture, cause it's a freaking maze, and you don't know where to start...

We took a short break from walking and went to this restaurant for lunch. They had this covered wall where they showed different spices, and I saw something that made me laugh

After like spending 5 hours walking, and not having bought much stuff, we headed to a nearby place for seafood. We were actually freaking tired, too tired to even walk to the seafood place, and we don't have any idea exactly how to get there, and we ended up heading to the first big seafood sign that we saw... Walked like a super big round only to realise, when we reached there, that there is an underground passage leading there from the mall -_-''.. We were suppose to have seafood at the local roadside stalls, but they look too damn dirty, and we too were too tired to go recce (we had been walking for like god knows how long) thus we settled for a restaurant there, which shared an entrance with a hair salon and this sleazy looking massage parlor..

The food there wasn't excellent, but not too bad either, the only thing we didn't finish was the plate of vegetable.. It was not appetizing at all because they just dumped whole stalks of vegetable into the wok and fried it and transferred them onto a plate.. And the supposedly green vegetables looked yellow *gross*. Trying to 'kiap' the veg is like 'kiap-ing' noodles, not kidding...

God damn it! I give up, the iTunes screen keeping getting on top of my firefox window, and I have canceled  the update like 5 times accidentally cause the iTunes window came up just when I keyed 'Enter'   -_-'''

22nd June 2010

Woke up with a very stiff calf (actually I have been waking up with stiff calf everyday that I was there, can you imagine how much walking we did?)

Our first stop was to the Flora Garden, where we took a super short cable car ride to get there.

When we got to Flora Garden, we headed straight to the Guia Fortress, where we got to see the Guia Chapel and Lighthouse. Before we got there, we walked pass this tunnel and decide to go in and check it out. They showed things that used to be in the tunnel during war time, there were statues of soldiers in there and it's kinda freaky, I didn't dare to even look at them for long, let alone take photos of them, I just rushed through the tunnel.

Shortly after we walked through the tunnel, we reached Guia Fortress

These are the weather signals

Okay, I'm gonna go finish up my iPhone stuff, will continue soon. Too freaking long to finish in one post.

Plain bull!

Today, I just heard the biggest load of crap.. Some neighbour of ours called HDB and complained that my dog has been chasing people around! Can you believe it? When Heidi is rarely out of the house, and when she is, she is leashed! She has lazy owners who rarely brings her out of the house for walks. She can count herself lucky when she can even go out once in a month.

I know she can be crazy with her barking and all, but come on, chase people? Hmmm, come to think of it, my dog is pretty smart, so much so that you know, I'm not surprised that she can open the door by herself, no need to bother about the gate as she can squeeze through it, chase a few people around the block and come back, all before we even realise she left the house at all...

Come up with something better  you dumb-asses, at least check the facts before you make an accusation.

Izzie....

I hate Izzie Stevens from Grey's Anatomy... She is such a self-absorbed whiny little thing, sometimes makes watching G.A. so unbearable..URGH!

My Little Cousin...

The last time I saw one of my baby cousins was in April.. In 2 short months, I am shocked at how much he has grown... This is Zhi Jie from 2 months ago..

This is him 2 months later...

trying to grab my phone! When before he was such a grumpy boy, evident in the photo where John was carrying him.. But then again, it might just be John, terrorizing babies even when he don't mean to - as usual... Poor babies... (Or is it suppose to be poor John??)

He can actually stand on his own now, but only when he has his back against the wall...

After standing for awhile, he was getting a little nervous, and started fidgeting, with bum not moving away from the wall as best as he could... Look like 'bo gey' ah pek:

When you look at him and smile or laugh, this is the reaction you will get from him:

Don't know if you can tell, but his little bum is still against the wall while he stretched out wanting to be carried... Isn't he adorable?? Just makes you wanna go pick him up for a hug...

A day of Crazy FUN!

After a LONG LONG while, I finally get to meet up with Sab - My partner-in-crime during my poly days. I remember how we always skip classes, not study for tests, and cheat in those tests together.. Good times... LOL

Anyway we were suppose to meet at 3, then as usual, we push back the meeting time.. We have this tendency to do that... Cause we are lazy people! Anyway we met at Bugis, cause Sab wanna go for William Farquhar exhibition at the National Library.

I kept telling Sab that 'Farquhar' is pronounced as "Farh-ker" but she don't believe me! It sounds really like "fucker" but with a "h". The reason why I know it is pronounced as "Farh-ker" and not "Far-quah" is because one of John's ex-colleague was a Scottish with the exact last name. And he told John that it's "Farh-ker". Though in the videos the show, the narrator and the descendant of William Farquhar pronounced it as "Far-quah". I can understand it though, who, living in an English-speaking world, would wanna have a last name that sounds like fucker?

Imagine you have a classmate with Farquhar for surname, you would make fun of that boy till no end, and that poor bugger will be miserable for the rest of his school life. And imagine if your great-great-great-great grandfather is a Farquhar, when your friends say you come from a line of fuckers (knowing us Singaporeans, we will mispronounce it on purpose: fark-ker instead of farh-ker, just so that we can make the bugger feel miserable and have a good laugh about it), you can't deny it!

Okay, back to the exhibition, it was quite an enriching one, things that I don't remember learning in school, but then again, I don't bother remembering what I've learned when I was in secondary school, wait, or is it primary school? For instance, though Sir Stamford Raffles was the one that is widely acknowledge as the founder of Singapore, Farquhar is actually the one who built and nurtured us. They really downplayed his contributions... Poor guy...

After we were done learning and getting confused over his family line, we headed to my aunt's cafe, which is located in the National Library's Drama Centre, for our dinner.

The food there is great, cause my aunt Yvonne is a great chef! I've always enjoyed going there.. Too bad we were too busy eating and talking, I forgot to take some photos of the food. I managed to drink my favourite "Smurf" soup! It's not like those crappy mushroom soup that you get at other restaurants, neither is it those cream type. It's this really nice thick blended mushroom soup. We also had this special serving of ham and bacon quiche salad with big cheesy sausage, and it's super nice cause the cheese oozes out and is not those diluted, barely there kinda cheese. By the time my aunt is done with the pasta, we were super full, so much so that we were just there trying to force ourselves to finish as much of the pasta as we can...

Finally when we were done, we head over to the toilet, where we took photos, I don't know what is it with us girls and taking photos in the toilet, so please don't ask me. It's just something we do.

All these photos are taken using Sab's big fat pink camera, which you can tell sounds like an old model, which is! But her retro camera actually takes nicer photo than my slim modern one.. So... Yeah Sab you can gloat =P

We headed back to Bugis junction and went to the arcade! It has been freaking long since I have stepped into an arcade, feel so old whenever I'm in one.. Anyway we played BishiBashi most of the time we were in there, spent close to 10 bucks worth of token on it... It's was so much fun that I broke my nail, and cut Sab's hand LOL
It's kinda nice to be back in an arcade having silly fun.

After we finished the tokens, we went for some ice-cream and walked around alittle, wanting to help Sab find some nice fake lashes, but sadly didn't manage to find any that looked decent.

The whole time we were together, we talked alot of crap, all sorts of crazy crap... Always enjoy spending time with Sab, though we don't get to meet up very often, in fact the last time we met up was like last year? But when we do, there are no awkward moments of silence or anything like that, we can just talk and joke like how we used to in poly...

Looking forward to our next meeting, where maybe we will end up walking like cowgirls.. Hahaha *our 'private' joke*

Job interview........

Went for a job interview earlier today for a Counselor position with Singapore's Children Society. I like the job scope and all, and the working environment and all... But.. there is a slight problem.. Distance!

The centre is in Bedok.. Which is freaking far... Imagine having to travel 2hrs to get to work! Spending 4hrs on travelling to and fro work.. I guess that can be tiring after a long day work... So the centre head asked me to give it some thought and let her know if I still wanna be considered for the position.

Had a talk with John and Mum, and decided to give it a try. It is a job that I am interested in, where I don't have to sit in an office for like 8 hours a day, doing paperwork, and I get to interact with kids and all...

Anyway I've sent them an email... So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
